Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Actress Munmun Dutta Booked Under SC/ST Act For Using Casteist Slur

The actress who landed in a controversy over the use of a word that is termed as a casteist slur was recently blasted by netizens on social media for hurting the sentiments. And now the latest update is that she is been booked under SC/ST act at Haryana’s Hansi.
According to a report in The Hindu, Nitika Gahlaut, Superintendent of Police, Hansi, confirmed that the case was registered at City Police Station under Section 3(1) (u) of the SCs and STs Act. The case was registered on Thursday and the matter was under investigation.
Reportedly, the FIR has been registered by Rajat Kalsan, convenor, National Alliance for Dalit Human Rights.
Munmum landed in soup after a video of her went viral on social media. Addressing fans in a Vlog, she says "I have applied a lip tint as my blush because I am going to appear on Youtube and I want to look good. Bh**** ki tarah nahi dikhna chahti hun".
The word used by her carries casteist connotations and is regarded as a slur.
Later, in response to the criticism, she even released an apology statement on Twitter wherein she writes: "One word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone's feelings".
She has cited "language barrier" as the reason, adding that "I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word". In the note, she has apologised and expressed regret over the same.
