Dipika had no apprehensions about playing mother's role

New Delhi: With "Sasural Simar Ka" taking a leap of 18 years, Dipika Kakar will be seen playing the role of a mother. The actress says she had no hangups about playing an elderly character. "I was completely ready for it. In fact, when I was told that we are taking the first big leap, I was really excited about it," Dipika told IANS. The show, which went on air on Colors in 2011, began by telling the tale of two sisters who get married in the same family, and their life at their in-laws' place. It went through many twists and turns. Dipika feels since the show was on air for such a long time, the leap is organic. "If it is a daily soap which has run for five and a half years and then if you take leap, I don't think it is wrong... And it should have a leap because then it adds freshness. As a viewer, I would personally like if the leap happens since it offers something new. I think it works in favour of the show." With the show, Dipika not only got fame, but also brickbats for the way her character shaped up. In the show, her character Simar Bharadwaj turned into a 'makhi' (fly) following a 'shraap' (curse), also went to hell and fought evil spirits to safeguard her family. The actress says after playing 'super bahu', she is excited to play a super mother. "We have always seen Simar as a very responsible super woman bahu, but now you will see as a mother. She would stand against her daughter to get her right."
