Devoleena Bhattacharjee On Getting Trolled For Her Marriage And Why She Opted For Simple Wedding Celebrations

New Delhi: TV star Devoleena Bhattacharjee recently married her long-time boyfriend and gym trainer Shanwaz Shaikh. Devoleena chose a court marriage, and after that, the couple had an intimate reception. The wedding included Devoleena's mother and a few of her close friends like Vishal Singh and Bhavini Purohit.

Recently, Devoleena Bhattacharjee told Pinkvilla why she chose a simple and private wedding. The ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ star said, "I feel during my teenage years, I always counted and eyed for a royal wedding. But during the Covid-19 lockdown, I understood many different aspects of life and the importance of money.” 

She went on to say, “I feel there comes a point, to break the trend and to make society understand that only making your D-day big doesn't make you royal. I feel instead of wasting that huge sum of hard-earned money, using them for helping people in need and taking their blessings for a happy life is worth and pure. I don't believe that flaunting a royal lifestyle will anyway help me."

Devoleena was brutally trolled for her wedding decision. In regard to the trolls, the actress feels that whoever she marries, people will troll her. TOI quoted her saying, “The problem is no matter whom you marry, you will be trolled. If you marry a rich guy, you will be called a gold digger, you marry a good-looking guy, they will tell you that it’s not a great match, you marry someone who has a heart of gold but is average looking, they will say,’ Devo, kya match dhoondha?’ Ye log doosre ki khushi bardaasht hi nahi kar sakte.”

She also added, “Trolling amounts to harassment and can have an adverse effect on a marriage. Had it not been for my husband stopping me from replying to these trolls, I would have given it back in my own style to everyone on social media.”

Several photographs and videos of Devoleena and Shanawaz’s wedding are now being shared all over the internet.
