'Badho Bahu' actress Rytasha was scared to do TV
Mumbai : She may be making her small screen debut with upcoming show "Badho Bahu", but newbie Rytasha Rathore never wanted to be a part of TV as she found the medium time consuming.
"I never wanted to be on TV. It was never my aspiration to be a TV actor. It just kind of happened. I wasn't apprehensive, but knowing the time commitment required from the lead actors, I was a bit scared that I won't be able to do other stuff. That was my big concern," Rytasha told PTI.
The actress, who will be seen as an over-weight girl on the show, bagged the role after an audition.
The &TV show chronicles the story of an overweight girl who overcomes her life's battles with aplomb.
Rytasha says the basic premise of "Badho Bahu" might be similar to the Bollywoodfilm "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" but the TV series has more to offer.
"It (the show) is similar to 'Dum Laga...' in the sense that the female protagonist is overweight and the man is not happy to marry her. But that is the only similarity, beyond that there are a lot of things which will happen on the show."
Rytasha, who comes from theatre background, says she won't quit doing plays as she has some prior commitments to fulfil and is hopeful her TV debut will shape up well.
"I wouldn't say I am nervous because I have a feeling it is a good show. The day I finished filming the first episode, I got a feeling that we are heading on the right path.
"But, I can't quit theatre. I have existing shows going on. I can't say bye to theatre at all. I have some prior commitments and thankfully the producers (of the show) have been very understanding."
The show also stars reality TV personality Prince Narula and the actress credits her co-star for being "absolutely fun" to work with.
"He is the most chilled out guy. It is very good. In fact it feels like I am working with a friend. So far it has been absolutely fun working with Prince."
The show is scheduled to air from September 12.
