After singer and spiritual healer Kenishaa Francis accused actor Jayam Ravi's estranged wife, Aarti Ravi, and her family of mistreating him, Aarti issued a statement asserting that her silence should not be mistaken for guilt or weakness. She expressed her trust in the legal process to bring the truth to light. 

What Aarti said on Instagram

On Monday, Aarti took to Instagram to address the ongoing public speculation about her personal life. In her post, she wrote, "In light of the ongoing public commentary surrounding my personal life, I find it important to emphasise that my silence is not a sign of weakness or guilt. I’ve chosen to stay dignified and not respond to those trying to portray me in bad light to conceal the truth, but I trust the legal system to bring justice." 

She also clarified a previous statement she made, explaining that when she said she was "blindsided," she was referring to the public statement made by Ravi, not the divorce proceedings. "To be clear, my previous statement referred to the public announcement that was claimed to have been issued through mutual consent. I maintain that this came as a shock and was not a reference to the unilateral divorce that is underway. It’s unfortunate that my words were misinterpreted." Aarti further mentioned that her hope for a private discussion has been "denied" so far. 

Aarti concluded her statement by expressing her respect for the institution of marriage and her desire to avoid public mudslinging. "I deeply respect the sanctity of marriage and won’t engage in public discussions that hurt anyone’s reputation. My focus is on our family’s well-being, and I trust God’s grace for guidance." She captioned her post with the phrase, "When they go low, we go high.” 

What Jayam Ravi said

Aarti’s response follows actor Jayam Ravi’s interview with Hindustan Times a few days prior, where he revealed that he "walked out of home with nothing" and felt "forced" to issue a public statement after Aarti didn’t respond to legal notices. "Both our families and she and I had a discussion about this together. So, she and her family were completely aware of this. How can they claim otherwise?" Ravi had said. 

What Kenishaa said

Earlier, Kenishaa Francis clarified that Ravi was merely her client and accused Arti of “abusing” Jayam. 

In an interview with DT Next, Kenishaa said, “As a therapist, I can tell you that the pain Jayam Ravi’s family has put him through is bigger than the pain of losing his parents. As a therapist, it was beyond painful for me to hear about his struggles with Aarti and her parents. No one deserves so much abuse, irrespective of the gender.”
