Samantha's Yashoda Takes The Lead At The Box Office, Beats Amitabh Bachchan-Starrer Unnchai

'Yashoda', starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, surpasses Sooraj Barjatya's 'Uunchai' at the box office on day three of release. The Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, and Danny Denzongpa-starring drama has been rising at a decent pace over the first weekend, but the Telugu thriller appears to be the audience's pick.

On Sunday, 'Unnchai' earned Rs 4.71 crore, bringing its total earnings to that point to Rs 10.16 crore. On Day 3, the movie's box office earnings soared despite its initial release in a small number of theatres. The Amitabh Bachchan-starrer made Rs 1.81 crore on its opening day, and over time, it won the public over due to the positive response.

Film industry analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the movie's weekend box office numbers. “#Uunchai touches uunchai on Day 3… Glowing word of mouth has come into play… Fantastic trending on limited screens/tight showcasing… Double digit weekend indicates the power of content… Fri 1.81 cr, Sat 3.64 cr, Sun 4.71 cr. The plot of Uunchai centres on three elderly friends who climb to the Everest Base Camp in order to grant their fourth friend's final wish. For the trio, what begins as a simple trek becomes into an personal adventure.

On the other hand, according to trade insiders, Yashoda made Rs 16.7 crore in its first weekend. The movie not only got off to a terrific start domestically, but it also made Rs 20 crore in its first weekend in the US.

Samantha is a surrogate mother in the movie 'Yashoda', risking her life to protect young women who are expecting babies from a surrogacy scam.  The movie, which was directed by Hari-Harish, has also been dubbed and released in Tamil. Unni Mukundan, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, and Murali Sharma also have significant roles in the movie.

'Yashoda' and 'Uunchai' hit the theaters on November 11.
