Tokyo Olympics 2020: Anushka, Kareena, Kangana & Other B-Town Celebs Shower Mirabai Chanu With Praises

Bollywood stars lauded Mirabai Chanu, who claimed the silver medal in women's 49 kg weightlifting at Tokyo Olympics.

Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt and other tinsel town celebs hailed Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who clinched a silver medal in women's 49kg weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Bollywood stars were all praises for the 26-year-old, who became the first Indian weightlifter to win a silver medal at the Olympic Games.  

The celebrities lauded Chanu for her hard work and determination and congratulated her for the big victory at the Tokyo Olympics. Kangana, who played a Kabaddi player in Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Panga’, shared a picture of Chanu on Instagram story and thanked her for giving Indian a sparkling start in the Olympics 2020.

Kareena Kapoor also lauded Chanu, sharing a post for her Instagram story. She wrote, "Our first medalist is here. You made India so proud." Anushka Sharma also re-shared Mirabai's photo along with a message that read, "You beauty."

Taapsee Pannu, last seen in 'Haseen Dillruba', tweeted, “And we begin !!!!!! Come on India.” Her 'Mission Mangal' co-star Akshay Kumar also wished Chanu on her historic victory.

"What a dream come true for India! Thank you for making us proud," the 'BellBottom' actor wrote on the micro-blogging site. 

“Congratulations, India! Yet again, an Indian Woman brings us international sporting acclaim! #MirabaiChanu wins an #OlympicSilver! Jai Hind!!!," Vishal Dadlani's tweet read. 

Randeep Hooda tweeted, "Congratulations #MirabaiChanu for opening our account in the #OlympicGames with your #silver thank you for all your hard work and that competitive spirit."

Chanu who hails from Manipur, is the recipient of Padma Shri and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. Movie buffs have already requested Bollywood filmmakers to make a film based on her inspiring life.  We hope the producers are listening as Bollywood has successfully made biopics like 'Mary Kom', 'Bhaag Milka Bhaag' and 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' in the past.
