The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 11: Adah Sharma's Movie Is Heading Towards Rs 150 Cr

The current domestic total is Rs 147 crore, and it seems like 'The Kerala Story' will easily break the Rs 150 crore mark.

New Delhi: ‘The Kerala Story’, directed by Sudipto Sen, is a box office smash. The film's success at the box office can be attributed to enthusiastic audience word of mouth. The film made Rs 100 crores in only 9 days after its premiere. On day 11, the current domestic total is Rs 147 crore, and it seems like the film will easily break the Rs 150 crore mark. On May 15th, the movie had a 20.30 per cent occupancy rate.

According to industry buzz, The Kerala Story has been smashing box office expectations. In India, the picture grossed roughly Rs 10 crore (net) on Monday, May 15, a significant decline from the previous weekend. The 11-day tally now stands at Rs 147.04 crore in India. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the total collection of the movie and wrote, "#TheKeralaStory is not slowing down soon… Hits double digits on [second] Mon, HIGHER than [first] Mon - ₹ 10.03 cr… All set to cross ₹ 150 cr today [second Tue]… [Week 2] Fri 12.35 cr, Sat 19.50 cr, Sun 23.75 cr, Mon 10.30 cr. On May 5, 'The Kerala Story,' a movie about conversion that has polarised political discourse in the nation and resulted in bans in some areas and tax-free status in others, was released. The Vipul Shah-produced film 'The Kerala Story' tells the story of Kerala women who were coerced into joining the Islamic State (IS) and being converted.

Meanwhile, some political parties and organisations have spoken out against ‘The Kerala Story’, calling it propaganda and demanding that it be banned. Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of West Bengal, has banned the film out of fear for public safety. The film's success at the box office comes despite its controversial reception.
