Stree 2 Box Office Collection: Shraddha Kapoor Starrer Beats SRK's Pathaan, Becomes Second Highest Grossing Hindi Film

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer has now overtaken Shah Rukh Khan's spy thriller 'Pathaan' to become the second-highest-grossing Hindi film in India.

After beating the box office collections of the hindi version of SS Rajamouli's 'Bahubali 2: The Conclusion', the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer has now overtaken Siddharth Anand's spy thriller 'Pathaan' to become the second-highest-grossing Hindi film in India, according to Sacnilk. Released last year, 'Pathaan' featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.

Stree 2 beats Pathaan box-office collection

On Saturday, 'Stree 2' raised its domestic box office collection to ₹516.25 crore nett, surpassing the Hindi version of Prabhas-led 'Baahubali 2', making it the third-highest-grossing Hindi film in India. It trails only behind two Shah Rukh Khan blockbusters from last year—Atlee's action-thriller 'Jawan' and 'Pathaan'.

By Sunday, early estimates showed Stree 2 adding another ₹10 crore to its earnings, bringing its total to around ₹527 crore nett, surpassing Pathaan (₹524.53 crore). This places Stree 2 as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film in India. However, it still has a considerable gap to close to claim the top spot, with the Hindi version of Jawan sitting at ₹582.31 crore domestically.

Stree 2 running unparalleled in cinemas

For weeks, Stree 2 has enjoyed a clear run at the box office, with no major competition. Kangana Ranaut's directorial debut Emergency, a political thriller in which she also stars, was originally slated for release on September 6 but has been delayed after the Central Board of Film Certification stalled its certification following multiple petitions.

However, Stree 2 will face new competition starting Friday, September 13, with the release of Hansal Mehta's investigative thriller The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor.

About Stree 2:

Stree 2 is the sequel to Amar Kaushik's 2018 directorial debut Stree, which laid the foundation for Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy cinematic universe. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Tamannaah Bhatia, among others. Produced by Dinesh's Maddock Films and written by Niren Bhatt, Stree 2 hit cinemas on August 14.
