SS Rajamouli's RRR Collects Rs. 80 CR At Box Office In Japan

'RRR' was released in 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities in Japan.

New Delhi: 'RRR' continues to win hearts even after its Oscar win. The SS Rajamouli film which was released in Japan in October last year is now in its 20th week of run in theatres in the country. The film has collected Rs. 80 crores gross so far in the country. 'RRR' has now officially become the highest-grossing Indian film in the country.

'RRR' was released in 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities in Japan. The official handle of SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' shared the announcement of the film's 20th week run in cinemas on their official Twitter account. Their tweet read, "This tweet's engagement and compliments demonstrate how RRR is gradually penetrating into the roots of Japan with each passing day. Glad that the film is drawing exceptionally high footfalls and is currently running in 202 cinemas in its 20th week! Love you Japan (sic).”

 

As per Box Office India, 'RRR' has so far grossed more than Rs. 80 crores and is expected to breach Rs. 100 crores mark by the end of its theatrical run in Japan. 'RRR', which grossed over Rs. 1000 crores worldwide during its theatrical run and much more during the re-release programs in the USA.

Earlier, this week, 'RRR' became the first Indian film to bag an Oscar for the Original Song category. At the 2023 Oscars ceremony, 'Naatu Naatu' live performance earned a standing ovation. 

On winning an Oscar for 'Naatu Naatu, composer MM Keeravani said in his acceptance speech, "There was only one wish on my mind...RRR has to win ...the pride of every Indian...and it must put me on the top of the world."

After the official nomination at the Academy, SS Rajamouli and the team of 'RRR' have been eagerly promoting the film across the USA to champion the cause of the film. The film was also released in many iconic theatres where it ran to full house. 

'RRR' is a fictional epic period action drama starring Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Jr. NTR, Alison Doody, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran among others. The film recreates the historical lives of two revolutionary leaders Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju.
