Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari Highway, Which Would Cut Travel Time To 45 Minutes, Won’t Open Until September 2025

The Gurugram-Rewari highway, initially set to be completed in 2023, has faced multiple delays due to various challenges. Now the completion date has been pushed back to September 2025.

The completion date for the Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari highway, initially slated for March 2025, has been pushed back to September 2025, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). As of January 31, only 63% of the work had been completed, reported Hindustan Times.

Officials from NHAI cited several reasons for the delay, including frequent construction bans due to air pollution, challenges in utility relocation, environmental concerns, and encroachments along the highway.

The highway, when approved, was expected to be completed by November 2023. However, the deadline was later extended to March 2025. Now, due to ongoing setbacks, it has been further delayed to September 2025, an NHAI official confirmed.

A senior NHAI official emphasised, "The deadline has now been set for September 2025. We have completed 63% of the work, and we are committed to finishing the project by this new deadline."

The 46.1-kilometre highway, being developed by NHAI, will connect Gurugram with Pataudi and Rewari. The project includes 81 culverts, 23 vehicle underpasses, a railway overbridge, and two flyovers. After approval, 10 more structures were added to the project's scope, as per the report. This pushed back the completion deadline further.

The highway will significantly cut down the travel time and improve accessibility for commuters in 27 villages along the route. An NHAI official also mentioned that the highway will also connect commuters to the Dwarka Expressway near Sector 88B via a flyover.

Once completed, the highway will reduce the travel time between Gurugram and Rewari from 90 minutes to 45 minutes.
