Shraddha Kapoor Finally Addresses Credit Controversy Surrounding 'Stree 2' Success, Calls It 'Team Effort'

Shraddha Kapoor has finally talked about the ongoing controversy surrounding the success of 'Stree 2'.

New Delhi: In the midst of the ongoing dispute about who should get credit for ‘Stree 2' success, lead actor Shraddha Kapoor has shared her view. The success of the film, she said in a recent interview, is due to the hard work of everyone involved. In addition, she dropped the bombshell that production is already underway on the third installment of the horror film series.

Fans and industry experts alike have used social media to pick apart the key actors' roles in ‘Stree 2’ and argue over who should get the credit. Addressing the matter during a Skype session, Shraddha said, “Talking about the success of the franchise, Shraddha said, “The kind of love and accolades the first part received were immense. It all started there. Hats off to the director, writer and producer for cracking a sequel. It’s important not to make a sequel just for the sake of it — you need substance to bring people to theatres and earn genuine appreciation. They stayed true to how a sequel should be made and cracked the story of Stree 2.”

She continued, “It (Stree 2) had all the entertainment factors, brilliant actors and really entertaining dialogues. I believe it was a fabulous team effort. It was pure cinematic joy. And ultimately, the audience decides, right? They leave their homes seeking entertainment and we’re happy we could deliver.”

By saying, “When Amar sir told me he had a story for Stree 3, I got very excited because I know it’s going to be something amazing. I can’t wait to hear what it’s about,” Shraddha expressed her enthusiasm for the franchise's future.

‘Stree 2' Credit War

The credit dispute started when ‘Stree 2' shattered many records at the box office when it released on August 15, 2024 (on Independence Day). Despite competition from films like as ‘Vedaa’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’, the movie swiftly became the box office hit, staying in theatres for more than 15 days before making its way to OTT platforms.

Speaking about the same, 'Stree 2' actor Aparshakti Khurana earlier told Zoom, "This is a PR game, I don't want to comment on it. I love each and every actor in my film. I am attached to them. In such a happy space, where the film has gotten so much love and success, this can come across as slightly unpleasant now."

The film features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. 'Stree 2' is a part of the horror comedy canon that Maddock Films has created, which also includes 'Munjya' and 'Bhediya'.
