Shah Rukh Khan is all set to reprise his role as Mufasa in director Barry Jenkins’ 'Mufasa: The Lion King', set to release in India on December 20, 2024, in multiple languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film delves into the legacy of the ultimate king of the jungle, Mufasa, and features a star-studded Hindi voice cast, led by the legendary Shah Rukh Khan and his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam.

Following the massive success of the 2019 live-action 'The Lion King', Shah Rukh Khan reprises his role as Mufasa, taking viewers back to the origins of the iconic king. Aryan Khan joins him as Simba, while AbRam lends his voice to the young Mufasa.

The Hindi trailer of the film has been unveiled, enhanced by the powerful presence of Shah Rukh Khan and his sons, making it an extraordinary journey into the heart of the savannah.

 

Shah Rukh Khan shares thoughts on doing 'Mufasa: The Lion King'

Shah Rukh Khan shared his thoughts on the project, saying, “Mufasa has an incredible legacy and stands as the ultimate king of the jungle, imparting his wisdom to his son, Simba. I deeply relate to him as a father and also resonate with Mufasa’s journey in the film. ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ depicts Mufasa’s life from childhood to his rise as an incredible king, and revisiting this character has been exceptional."

He added, "It’s a special collaboration for me with Disney, particularly because my sons, Aryan and AbRam, are part of this journey, and sharing this experience with them is truly meaningful."

About the film

Directed by Barry Jenkins, 'Mufasa: The Lion King' brings to life both new and beloved characters, blending live-action filmmaking with photorealistic computer-generated imagery. The film tells the story of Mufasa’s rise to power, relayed by Rafiki, and introduces an orphaned cub named Mufasa and a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline, on their expansive journey alongside a group of extraordinary misfits.

The film features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. In the English version, Aaron Pierre voices Mufasa, Donald Glover voices Simba, and Braelyn Rankins voices Young Mufasa. 'Mufasa: The Lion King' will be available in Indian theatres on December 20, 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
