Shah Rukh Khan Is ‘Fooling You All’ With His Iconic Arm Pose? Here's What The Actor Has To Say

Shah Rukh Khan revealed the origins of his iconic arm pose during his appearance at the Locarno Film Festival.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has revealed the origins of his iconic pose, which has become a symbol of love in Indian film. The 58-year-old actor reminisced during a live interaction at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, explaining how a choreographic challenge inspired him to create his now-famous arm pose.

Shah Rukh Khan remembered in response to a festivalgoer's question about where his famous arm pose came from. He said, "I think what happened is in Indian cinema, especially during the 90s, dip was a real thing."

The actor got up on stage, had the crowd sing a song, and attempted to do the "dip" motion, a famous dance move of the era, to prove his point. “I couldn’t do dip,” he continued.

The actor went on to say that legendary choreographer Saroj Khan had warned him against doing the ‘dip’ despite his best attempts. "She wouldn't let me do the dip, so I had to put my arms out," he said, explaining how the trademarked stance evolved from a practical solution.

He added, “Then I went to a different set and it was quite difficult to do a step, so I just asked Farah, let’s cut it out and just put the arms out and I kept repeating it. Because, I was using the pose so much, I had to do it more intensely and eventually, I made it scientific."

Shwoing his arm pose, Shah Rukh Khan chuckled, "I am only fooling you all. There is nothing, it is just arms out.”
