New Delhi: 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani opened to a solid start by earning Rs 9.25 crore on the first day of release in theatres. The critics have given this romantic drama favourable reviews.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the recent box office figures on Twitter and wrote, "#SatyaPremKiKatha puts up a healthy score on Day 1 [holiday]… Gathered speed during the course of the day, after an ordinary start in the morning shows… Evening shows, expectedly, saw very good occupancies due to glowing WOM… Thu ₹ 9.25 cr. #India biz."
"Emerges #KartikAaryan’s third biggest opening day, after #BhoolBhulaiyaa2 and #LoveAajKal. Going forward, the numbers may decline on Day 2 [Fri], since it’s a working day, but Day 3 and 4 [Sat-Sun] hold the key… If its target audience - families - patronise the content, a strong weekend number cannot be ruled out," he added.

The film review on ABP Live reads: 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' ends up becoming something more than an entertainer. Like the film had to qualify some social angle exam to become watchable in a theatre. Truthfully, that's a common formula template many filmmakers have been exploring, especially since content consumption patterns have changed so much post-pandemic. But, why succumb to the need of audience likes/dislikes? If the film has the potential to survive standalone on the basis of the story it tells, why purposely add elements like spoon-feeding a social message when it can say all that in a story without being literal about it?
Meanwhile, 'Pasoori Nu', a remake of the hugely popular Pakistani song 'Pasoori' by Ali Sethi and Shae Gil, is featured in the film. The revised version was performed by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, while Rochak Kohli and Ali are given credit for the composition. In a recent interview with News 18, he said they received "a lot of hatred" after the song was released, but as more people listen to it, they "are saying that this isn't as bad as we expected".
Supriya Pathak, Gajraj Rao, Siddharth Randheria, Anooradha Patel, Rajpal Yadav, Nirrmite Saawaant, and Shikha Talsania also appear in the Sameer Vidwans-directed film. The romantic movie, which Sajid Nadiadwala produced, reunites Kartik and Kiara after their 2022 blockbuster 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'. The film released in theatres on June 29.
