#MeToo: Arshad Warsi reacts on Rajkumar Hirani sexual harassment row; says, it's a shocker

Just like few other celebs, Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi too is shocked on allegations against Rajkumar Hirani.

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who has directed blockbusters like 'Munnabhai MBBS', 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', '3 Idiots', 'PK' and most recently 'Sanju', has been accused of sexual misconduct by one of his Assistant Director. The woman, who worked with the director for Ranbir Kapoor's 'Sanju', has alleged that the filmmaker had sexually abused her in between March & September (total 6  months) in 2018 on multiple occasions. Post which, various Bollywood celebs including Dia Mirza, Sharman Joshi, Boney Kapoor among others have reacted on the same. Speaking about the same, Arshad Warsi has told Zoom TV that, "If you talk to me about Raju Hirani as a person, as a personality and how he is, I think he is a wonderful person and a thorough gentleman. So, for me,  It’s a shocker as it is for everybody else who has heard this news." Rajkumar Hirani has himself denied the sexual harassment allegations against him in a statement quoting, "I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or any legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation." The #MeToo movement in India gained momentum last year when Tanushree Dutta opened up about facing harassment at the hands of Nana Patekar during the shooting of the film-'Horn OK Pleassss' in 2008. Post which, many incidents of harassment & sexual misconducts came out in open with allegations against known Film & TV personalities including Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan among others. Director Rajkumar Hirani is the latest name who has been accused of sexual misconduct & his friends as well as colleagues are shocked. Few days ago, the actor had revealed that the script of third film in the 'Munnabhai' franchise has been locked and the shooting will start this year with him & Sanjay Dutt. But with latest turn of events, the much-awaited film has been reportedly put on hold till Rajkumar Hirani gets a clean chit in the sexual harassment row. Stay tuned for more updates!
