'I For India' Concert Raises 52 Cr For COVID-19 Relief Fund; Bollywood Celebs Thank Fans For Their Support

Several Bollywood fans thanked their fans for watching and donating during the 'I For India' virtual concert on Facebook.

New Delhi: Bollywood filmmakers Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar’s virtual concert, which beamed on Facebook on Sunday (May 3) evening, has turned out to be a big success. The concert featuring 85 celebrities has raised Rs 52 crore for Coronavirus relief fund, becoming the biggest live fundraiser event Facebook. KJo took to Twitter to share that streaming raised Rs 4.3 crore from viewers and Rs 47.77 crore from brands and philanthropists. He said in a statement, “iForIndia becomes world’s biggest live fundraiser on Facebook by raising 4.3 crore online (and counting). Corporate donors and philanthropists donate Rs 47.77 crore (and counting). I for India continues to get overwhelming attention and support from the world over. 100% of proceeds go to GiveIndia for COVID-19 relief work.” Several Bollywood celebs including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif expressed gratitude to the fans for watching the virtual concert on Facebook and contributing their bit to the noble cause. SRK turned singer for the concert and even performed a jig with his son AbRam Khan. Sharing a video of his performance, the 'Zero' actor wrote, "Sab Sahi Ho Jaayega. Extremely grateful to #IforIndia, @badboyshah and @cacklerraj for music, lyrics & for working overnight. thank u Sunil for the edit. All so that I could sing. ‬ Ab bhai, lockdown mein mujhe gaate hue bhi jhelna padhega. AbRam is saying 'papa enough now!’‬ Par sab sahi ho jaayega!‬"
"From our hearts to yours. Thank you for watching. Thank you for responding. Thank you for donating. I for India started out as a concert. But it can be a movement. Let’s continue to build a safe India. A healthy India. A strong India. I for India. Please continue to donate," Akshay Kumar wrote. 
Katrina Kaif, Arjun Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit also thanked the fans and asked them to continue to donate.
The likes of Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan participated in the concert to raise funds for the people, who have been impacted by the spread of COVID-19. Watch this space for more updates!
