As the National Award-winning actress celebrates her birthday today, her daughter Soha Ali Khan and daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan took to their social media to wish Sharmila Tagore with heartfelt notes.
New Delhi: The yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore celebrates her 76th birthday today (December 8). Born into the prominent Tagore family, she started her career at a very young age of 14 with Satyajit Ray’s 1959 movie ‘Apur Sansar’ opposite Soumitra Chatterjee. She then starred in several Bollywood films like ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Mausam’ and many others. She emerged as one of the leading actresses of her times.

Bebo shared a throwback picture of the veteran actress and wrote, “To one of the most coolest and strongest women I know... happy birthday my beautiful mother-in-law”
Soha Ali Khan took to her Instagram and shared the pictures of Sharmila Tagore’s birthday since 2013. Her caption for the post read, “We always managed to spend birthdays together but this year has kept us apart. When we meet and may that be soon, we will celebrate all the moments we have missed and be thankful for all the love we have. Happy birthday Amman! See you soon”
Kunal Kemmu also shared a story on his Instagram and wished his mother-in-law a ‘Happy Birthday’.
Sharmila Tagore has twice been the recipient of the National Award and has also been the recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award.
She has served as the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification from October 2004 to March 2011. The talented actress was also chosen as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 2015.
