New Delhi: Hollywood actress Emma Watson aka our very own Hermione Granger from ‘Harry Potter’ has turned a year older on Wednesday (April 15). Emma, who started her career as a child artist, has won the hearts of the audience with her power-packed performances in several films. While fans still fondly remember her as the girl wizard from the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, the actress has managed to leave a reverberating impact with her acting skills in other films.
While we are locked inside out homes due to the Coronavirus pandemic, here are five Emma Watson’s films (other than Harry Potter movies) that you can watch to get rid of the all the quarantine blues.
My Week With Marilyn
Emma Watson played the role of Lucy in ‘My Week With Marilyn’, which was based on one week of Marilyn Monroe’s life. The Simon Curtis directorial focused on the making of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, which starred Monroe. ‘My Week With Marilyn’ starring Michelle Williams in the lead showcased the week during the shooting of the 1957 film when Monroe was escorted around London by Colin Clark after her husband Arthur Miller returned back to the US. It released in 2011, the same year as ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’.
Colonia
Emma Watson played the role of Lena, who joined the cult Colonia Dignidad to rescue her beau, in Colonia. The historical romantic thriller is set against the backdrop of the 1973 Chilean military coup and the real ‘Colonia Dignidad’. The movie, directed by Florian Gallenberger, released in 2015.
Beauty and the Beast
Emma Watson played the iconic role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast (2017 film). Her character fell in love with the Beast as she saw humanity with him. The Beast, played by Dan Stevens, could only earn back his humanity by only learning to truly love someone and be loved in return. The Bill Condon managed to set the cash registers jingling.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ starring Logan Lerman and Emma Watson was based on Chbosky's 1999 novel of the same name. The coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Stephen Chbosky focused on the story of Charlie, who suffered from clinical depression and anxiety issues. Emma played the role of Sam, who develops a close bond with Charlie.
Little Women
‘Little Women’ (2019) can be considered as one of the path-breaking films in Emma Watson’s career as she got to play the powerful role of Margaret "Meg" March. The film, which is the adaptation of 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcottm showcased the story of March sisters, who are determined to live their life on their terms.
