FIR lodged against veteran actor Jeetrendra for sexually assaulting his cousin sister 47 years ago!

A month ago this news came as a shock when Bollywood's veteran actor Jeetendra was accused of sexually abusing his cousin sister around 47 years ago out on a film location and now Shimla Police has filed an FIR against him. The victim made the allegation in a police complaint filed with Himachal Pradesh's Director General of Police back in the first week of February. IANS got hold of the complaint copy then. As per the complaint, the incident took place in January 1971, when the victim was 18 and Jeetendra was 28. It happened when he "arranged" for the victim to join him from New Delhi to Shimla on the set of his movie without the complainant's "awareness". The victim has claimed that on the night they reached Shimla, Jeetendra, whose real name is Ravi Kapoor, returned to the room in an inebriated state, joined the two separate beds and sexually assaulted her. Now Indian Express reports, FIR has been filed based on the complaint that was filed by his cousin. Shimla's Superintendent of Police (SP) Umapati Jamwal confirmed the development to the publication and said, "An FIR under Section 354 IPC has been registered at Chotta Shimla police station."

The victim will record her statement before a magistrate. She will also have to provide any proof that she has about her stay in the hotel.

The SP said that the case will be investigated as per the old provisions of the section 354 IPC, considering the law prevalent during the time that the alleged crime took place. The victim had said in her complaint that she decided to speak out after the demise of her parents, who would have been shattered if they had known about the alleged sexual abuse of their daughter at the hands of their nephew, Jeetendra.
