DMX Rapper Death: 'Party Up' Hitmaker Passes Away A Week After Suffering Heart Attack
Rapper and actor DMX died at New York's White Plains Hospital on Friday (April 9).
American rapper and actor DMX, who was recently admitted to a hospital following a heart attack, passed away on Friday (April 9). He was 50. The 'Party Up' hitmaker took his last breathe at New York's White Plains Hospital.
"We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days," DMX’s family said in a statement as quoted as People.
Several celebs including Wesley Snipes, Reagan Gomez mourned DMX's death on social media. Wesley Snipes tweeted, "Rest in power brother" while Gomez wrote, "Heartbreaking news. Condolences to the Simmons’ family. Rest in peace #DMX. He was so loved and I’m glad he got his flowers while he was here. There will never be another."
American rapper Dizzy Wright expressed grief over DMX's demise. He wrote, "Had I known the legends time would be cut short I would’ve tried harder."
DMX, who was born as Earl Simmons, released his first album ‘It's Dark and Hell Is Hot’ in 1998. The album received a massive response from the audience upon release. ‘Then There Was X’ remains one of his popular album. He was even nominated in the category of ‘Best Rap Album’ at the Grammy Awards 2001. He also received a nomination for ‘Best Rap Solo Performance’ for ‘Who We Be’ at the Grammy Awards 2002. The critically acclaimed rapper bagged the award for ‘Favorite rap/hip-hop artist’ at the 2000 and 2001 American Music Awards.
Last week, DMX was hospitalized in a serious condition after her suffered a heart attack on April 2. The rapper was placed on life support as his health was critical.

DMX also worked in films like Belly, Romeo Must Die, Last Hour, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, to name a few. He featured in the TV series DMX: Soul of a Man.
