Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj Passes Away At 90 In US

The noted singer was honoured with several awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and more.

Pandit Jasraj was born on 28 January 1930 in Pili Mandori, a village in the Hisar district of Haryana. His career spanned for more than 80 years and most of his classical and semi-classical vocals have become albums and film soundtracks. In a highly unfortunate development, renowned Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday in America. The 90-year-old veteran vocalist was in America with his family for some time. Padma Vibhushan awardee, Pandir Jasraj was born on 28 January 1930, and had been working in the field of music for nearly 80 years. During his active years, Jasraj was honoured with several awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and more. His family also released a statement post his death. The statement read, “With profound grief we inform, that Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji breathed his last this morning at 5:15 am EST due to a cardiac arrest, at home in New Jersey, USA. May Lord Krishna welcome him lovingly through the doors of heaven, where Pandit ji will now sing Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya exclusively just for his beloved Lord.
