Bollywood Producer Anil Suri Succumbs To Coronavirus at 77
Anil's brother Rajiv Suri said that they took him to top hospitals like Hinduja and Lilavati, but both denied admission due to lack of beds.
Mumbai: Music composer Wajid Khan passed away on June 1 in Mumbai due to Coronavirus and underlying kidney issues. His sudden demise left the industry in a state of shock. Bollywood filmmaker Anil Suri, who produced Raaj Kumar, Jeetendra and Rekha starrer ‘Karmayogi’ and Dharmendra, Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Hema Malini, Reena Roy and Kamal Haasan’s ‘Raaj Tilak’, has succumbed to Coronavirus. He was 77.
Anil Suri’s brother Rajiv Puri, while talking to ABP News, said that the filmmaker had high fever on June 2 and his health worsened the next day. He added that Anil was rushed to Lilavati and Hinduja but he couldn’t be admitted because the hospitals denied citing lack of beds.
"We took him to Advanced Multispeciality Hospital, where all his tests including COVID-19 were conducted. His health deteriorated the next evening and he was put on ventilator. He passed away around 7pm due to Coronavirus and heart attack," Rajiv said.

ABP News tried to contact both Lilavati and Hinduja hospitals for their comments on Rajiv Suri’s allegations but we did not get any response from both hospitals at the time of filing the story.
Anil Suri had also produced the film ‘Begunaah’, which starred Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Farah Naaz and ‘Sadashiv Amrapurkar’. The movie was directed by Ram Maheswari, who helmed ‘Karmayogi’. Although, the shooting was completed, the film couldn’t release on the silver screen.
Rajiv Puri co-produced Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee starrer ‘Manzil’, which was directed by Basu Chatterjee. Rajiv said, “It was heartbreaking to lose Basu Da and my brother on the same day.”
