Animal Box Office Collection Day 3: Ranbir Kapoor-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Action Drama Crosses Rs 200 Crore In India

The box office is going wild for Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Animal'. The film grossed more than Rs 200 crores in its first weekend.

New Delhi: In only three days after its release, Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Animal’ is breaking a lot of box office records. A dysfunctional and obsessive father-son relationship is at the centre of the film, as the son vows vengeance against those who wronged his father. The film's outstanding box office success is evidence of the incredible reception ‘Animal’ has been getting from audiences. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri and Shakti Kapoor.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has delivered yet another smash hit. Sacnilk reports that initial estimates indicate that 'Animal' earned Rs 72.50 crore on day 3. The film has so far grossed over Rs 202.57 crore, with day 2's earnings amounting to Rs 66.27 crore.

The film earned more on its opening Sunday than SRK's 'Pathan' (Rs 60.75 crore), but it was still no match for 'Jawan' (Rs 80.1 crore).

Despite Animal's record-breaking box office returns, several critics and viewers have criticised the picture for sexism, violence, and profanity.

ABPLive review of the movie reads: 'Animal' depicts the drive for vengeance that turns one blind to both good and bad choices, much like any other revenge tale. At its heart, Ranbir Kapoor starrer is a family drama, but it is also a parenting lesson above all things. The premise, with its clashing families and retaliation, evokes memories of the 90s Hindi cinema.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film is currently giving tough competition to Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’. Both films were released on  December 1.

Last time we saw Ranbir in a leading role in 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ opposite Shraddha Kapoor. The film is also available on Netflix and did well at the box office.
