Mumbai: August 8, 2013 marked the release of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’. The romantic comedy, which was directed by Rohit Shetty, created ripples at the box office, minting over Rs 30 crore on its opening day the box office. The film managed to surpass the expectations of the trade pundits, who had already predicted that ‘Chennai Express’ would set the cash registers jingling.
Whenever the word ‘Meenamma’ pops up, movie buffs will definitely think about Deepika Padukone. Afterall, the leggy lass won several hearts with her power-packed performance in ‘Chennai Express’. The was a complete masala entertainer, which resonated well with the audience.
It was ‘Chennai Express’, which established Deepika as the leading queen of B-town. 2013 proved to be a lucky year for the ‘Tamasha’ actress as she delivered four back-to-back hits in a year.
