Karan Johar Reveals That Kriti Sanon Rejected 'Lust Stories' Because 'Her Mom Didn't Allow Her'

Karan Johar shared, "I had offered it (Lust Stories) to Kriti Sanon… and she said that her mom didn't allow her. I thought everybody's mom would stand in line, not allowing their daughters."

New Delhi: Did you know that Kriti Sanon rejected 'Lust Stories', the anthology film about four stories around female sexuality. In the latest episode of 'Koffee With Karan Season 7, featuring Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor, Karan shared that he had first offered Kiara's part Megha to Kriti Sanon who rejected it. Apparently, Kriti's mom did not allow her to take up such a role.

While speaking to Kiara Advani on episode 8 of KWK Season 7, Karan said he had a hard time finding someone to play Kiara's part in the short film directed by him in the Netflix anthology series 'Lust Stories'. The series consisted of four short films which were directed by filmmakers like Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar.

In Karan's directorial, Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal played a newly-married couple and how Vicky fails to sexually satisfy her wife. The film was about the wife-Megha exploring her own sexuality and finding means to satisfy it.

Speaking about the same, Karan Johar shared, "I had offered it (Lust Stories) to Kriti Sanon… and she said that her mom didn't allow her. I thought everybody's mom would stand in line, not allowing their daughters. It's actually a very empowering story. It's about a woman's right to pleasure.”

"So, I met Kiara at (fashion designer) Manish Malhotra's house, and I just saw her, I knew her of course, I knew her as Alia Advani (Kiara’s birth name) then... so I met her and I asked 'can you come tomorrow and meet me, it's for a short film'. She came and she heard it and then she was a little zoned out. She said ‘are you directing it?’ I said yes. Then she said ‘yeah! I'm doing it’," he added.

Kiara also accepted that people began to notice her after 'Lust Stories'. It was a 'brave' film, but her sole purpose of working on the film was because it was being directed by Karan Johar.

"I have to say that it was the film that a lot of people noticed me in. But I have to say that when I signed the film, it was only to work with Karan Johar. Like I grew up and I wanted to work with him. But now in retrospect, when I look back, I realize, I don’t mean it was bold, but it was a brave topic to make a film on and to speak of. Because why shy away from women’s sexuality," The 'Shershaah' actress added.
