After enchanting audiences with the vibrant streets of Paris and the cultural richness of Rome, Netflix's hit series 'Emily in Paris' is now heading to Venice for its upcoming fifth season. Between August 5 and 15, the romantic comedy will shoot a portion of its latest installment in the historic Italian city, as confirmed by Veneto region governor Luca Zaia, according to a Variety report.

Local Authorities Welcome Global Spotlight

In an official statement to Italian media, Governor Zaia expressed pride over Venice’s inclusion in the globally loved series.

“This is extraordinary news, confirming how our region is increasingly attractive for major global audiovisual productions,” he said.

Director Andrew Fleming is currently scouting scenic locales in Venice with assistance from the Veneto Film Commission and a local production team. Governor Zaia further emphasized the value of showcasing local talent and culture:

“It’s a source of pride to see Venetian talent promoting their region and bringing the name of Venice and the Veneto to millions of homes around the world.”

What’s Next for Emily?

Season 5 began filming in Rome this May, followed by a return to Paris in June. The new season picks up shortly after Season 4, with Emily Cooper now heading Agence Grateau’s Italian office. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome,” creator Darren Star confirmed to Netflix.
