Coldplay India Concert: BookMyShow Takes Legal Action Against Fake Tickets In India

Coldplay is set to perform in Mumbai, India, in January 2025 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour.

The Grammy-winning band Coldplay is set to perform in Mumbai, India, in January 2025 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. The D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium will host the two big performances on January 18 and 19, 2025. After fans expressed disappointment with long virtual queues on the online ticket portal BookMyShow, the British rock band decided to add a third show to the Mumbai leg.

BookMyShow files police complaint over fake ticket sales

Now, the online ticket platform has released a new statement condemning ticket scalping and separating itself from illegal sellers. It also said a police complain has been lodged in connection with the case.

The amount of traffic on BookMyShow's website and app caused technical issues and restricted ticket availability for Coldplay's upcoming concerts in India in January 2025. BookMyShow stated that tickets were being resold at excessive costs on "platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg," with resellers charging much more, worsening the situation.

BookMyShow issues a new statement

The website said in an official statement about the resale of Coldplay India tour tickets. "BookMyShow has no association with any ticket selling/reselling platforms such as Viagogo and Ginsberg or third party individuals for the purpose of reselling of Coldplay's Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India," the statement read.

It further said, “Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India. We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the matter. We urge you to not fall victim to these scams. Any tickets bought from unauthorised sources will be at the risk of the consumer and can turn out to be fake tickets. Beware of such scammers.”

After Coldplay's India tour dates were revealed, there was a huge rush to get tickets. The band will be performing in Mumbai's DY Patil Sports Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. Disappointed fans are venting on social media about long waitlists and problems with servers because they were unable to get tickets.
