Bollywood’s iconic duo Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are all set to collaborate once again in the much-anticipated film ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film, which also stars Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhishek Bachchan, has been generating massive buzz ahead of its shoot.
With their blockbuster track record in films like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan, the SRK-Deepika pairing continues to excite fans. As per multiple reports, including one from Pinkvilla, Deepika Padukone has now been officially confirmed as part of the cast.
Deepika Padukone Locked for Full-Length Role in 'King'
The film’s pre-production is progressing well, and shooting is slated to begin on May 18 in Mumbai. A source told Pinkvilla: “Shah Rukh Khan was always clear about wanting Deepika Padukone on board for King. Initially, her dates didn’t align due to her maternity break and fitness routine. But with a shift in the film’s schedule, everything has now fallen into place.”
The source further added that Deepika’s role is much more than a cameo:“She’ll start filming in the second half of 2025. It’s a full-length role, crafted perfectly by Siddharth Anand and his writing team to do justice to her chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan.”
Interestingly, actresses Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif were also reportedly considered for the role before Deepika was finalized.
'King' Eyeing Late 2025 Release
While an official release date hasn’t been announced, reports suggest that the makers are aiming for a late 2025 theatrical release. More clarity on the timeline will emerge once the filming is underway.
If confirmed, Deepika Padukone's addition to King will mark her sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, further raising expectations for another box office blockbuster.
