'Dangal' Actress Zaira Wasim's Father Passes Away; She Shares, 'Ask Allah To Forgive His Shortcomings'

New Delhi: Zaira Wasim, known for her roles in 'Dangal' and 'Secret Superstar,' has shared the tragic news of her father, Zahid Wasim's death. Zahid was previously spotted with Zaira and her mother at a film event a few years ago.

Zaira Wasim shares post for her late father

Zaira took to social media to share a post for her late father on Tuesday. She wrote, "Verily the eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, but we will not say except that which is pleasing to our Lord.”

My father, Zahid Wasim, has passed away. Please remember him in your prayers and ask Allah to forgive his shortcomings, make his grave peaceful, protect him from its torment, ease his journey from here ahead.

May he be called to an easy accounting and be granted the highest level of Jannah and Maghrirah.

Zaira on Dangal co-star Suhani Bhatnagar's death

Earlier this year, Zaira also mourned the loss of her 'Dangal' co-star Suhani Bhatnagar. "I’m shocked beyond words by the news of Suhani Bhatnagar’s passing. My heart goes out to her family during this incredibly difficult time. The thought of what her parents must be experiencing fills me with so much sorrow. Utterly speechless. My heartfelt condolences," she wrote on X.

About Zaira Wasim

Zaira made her Bollywood debut in 2016 at the age of 16, portraying the younger version of Geeta Phogat, a renowned Haryanvi wrestler and the daughter of veteran wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, played by producer-actor Aamir Khan, in Nitesh Tiwari's blockbuster sports drama "Dangal." The film, which also starred Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Aparshakti Khurana, Sakshi Tanwar, and Suhani Bhatnagar, became one of the highest-grossing Indian films worldwide.

Zaira quit her acting career in 2019 at the age of 18 following the release of Shonali Bose's film "The Sky Is Pink." In the movie, she portrayed a young girl battling a terminal illness. The film also starred Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, and Rohit Saraf.
