Priyanka Gandhi declared assets worth Rs 12 crore, which include movable assets of over Rs 4.24 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 7.74 crore. She also has two FIRs against her.

Wayanad Bypoll: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday declared assets worth over Rs 12 crore as she filed nomination as party's candidate for Wayanad Lok Sabha bypolls, making her electoral debut.

In her nomination paper, Priyanka declared a total income of over Rs 46.39 lakh in the financial year 2023-2024, including rental income and interest from banks, among other investments.

The affidavit, which she filed along with her nomination papers, gave details of her assets and liabilities. The Congress leader stated in the declaration that she owns movable assets of over Rs 4.24 crore, which include deposits of varying amounts in three bank accounts, PPF, investments in mutual funds, a Honda CRV car gifted by her husband Robert Vadra, and over 4400 grams (gross) of gold amounting to Rs 1.15 crore, news agency PTI reported.

Priyanka Gandhi's immovable assets are worth over Rs 7.74 crore. These include two inherited half shares of agricultural land in Delhi's Mehrauli area and another half share in a farmhouse building located therein, which are now valued at over Rs 2.10 crore.

Apart from the Delhi properties, she also owns a self-acquired residential property in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla, which is worth over Rs 5.63 crore as of now.

In her affidavit, the Congress leader also provided details of her husband Robert Vadra's assets. He has movable assets worth over Rs 37.9 crore and immovable assets worth over Rs 27.64 crore, according to the affidavit.

Priyanka Gandhi has a Post Graduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies from University of Sunderland, UK, which she completed through distance learning. She pursued her Bachelors in Psychology from Delhi University.

Gandhi's liabilities amount to Rs 15.75 lakh. She is also facing Income Tax reassessment proceedings for the year 2012-13, according to which she is supposed to pay more than Rs 15 lakh as taxes, her affidavit noted.

FIRs Against Priyanka Gandhi

The affidavit also stated that there are two FIRs and a forest department's notice against Priyanka Gandhi. One of them was registered in 2023 in Madhya Pradesh. It is registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 469 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR was filed based on a person's complaint, alleging that she posted some misleading tweets.

The second FIR, registered in Uttar Pradesh, is for her alleged protest against the Hathras incident in 2020. It has been filed under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC.

Both Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi were booked for allegedly violating the prohibitory orders that were issued under CrPC section 144 and for violating the orders related to the Epidemic Diseases Act, which were imposed during the COVID-19 outbreak. They had walked towards Hathras to meet a Dalit rape victim's family, following which the FIR was lodged.
