Rahul Gandhi spoke to the delivery agents about their lives, lack of stable employment and rising prices of basic commodities.
New Delhi: As part of the Congress’ outreach to gig workers, party leader Rahul Gandhi interacted with them and also rode pillion on a delivery boy’s scooter in Bengaluru on Sunday. In a video posted by news agency ANI, Rahul Gandhi could be seen hopping on to the scooter of a delivery boy, wearing a blue helmet.
The Congress, on its Twitter handle, wrote, “Rahul Gandhi ji had a candid conversation with gig workers and delivery partners of Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit etc at the iconic Airlines Hotel in Bengaluru, today.” “Rahul Gandhi’s outreach to gig workers and delivery partners in Bengaluru is a part of his unwavering commitment to the issues of every section of society,” the Congress tweeted.
Over a cup of coffee and masala dosa, Rahul Gandhi spoke to the delivery agents about their lives, lack of stable employment and rising prices of basic commodities. He also listened to why they had taken up gig jobs and what was their experience of working as delivery agents.

“The Congress party has made specific promises for them in their Manifesto, mainly: 1. To set up a Gig Workers' Welfare Board with a corpus of ₹3,000 crore 2. To ensure minimum hourly wages for gig workers and other workers in the unorganised sector,” the party wrote on Twitter.
“Rahul Gandhi ji later hopped onto the pillion seat, chatting with a delivery partner about the consequences of BJP's corruption-ridden '40% Commission Sarkara', and the Congress party’s 5 Guarantees,” Congress tweeted.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, PM Modi held a mega roadshow in the city, waving at a large, enthusiastic crowd lining up both sides of the route. He held the massive 8km-long roadshow from the Kempegowda statue at New Tippasandra Road to Trinity Circle.
Karnataka is set to go to polls on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13.
