Verbal spat breaks out between Maneka Gandhi and SP-BSP candidate Sonu Singh in Sultanpur

The polling is underway for 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi in the penultimate sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, with the BJP having maximum at stake as it has to defend 45 seats it won in 2014.

New Delhi: As the voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections is underway, a verbal spat broke out between Bharatiya Janta Party leader Maneka Gandhi and SP-BSP candidate Sonu Singh on Sunday morning. As per reports, Sonu Singh was present at Sultanpur polling booth where the voting is taking place along with his party workers; which irked Gandhi; which led to a spat between them. Maneka Gandhi is a BJP candidate from Sultanpur itself. Speaking on the same, Gandhi said “We are here for the booth inspection as there shouldn't be any criminal element at or around the booths. One of the people with them is absconding from the police.  These people threaten and pressurize the people before voting; This is not at all right and acceptable.  Everyone has the right to cast their votes freely and peacefully” It is a 6th phase of voting for Uttar Pradesh. The last phase of voting will be taking place on May 19. The polling is underway for 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi in the penultimate sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, with the BJP having maximum at stake as it has to defend 45 seats it won in 2014. Voting is taking place for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 in Haryana, eight each in West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, four in Jharkhand and all seven seats in Delhi. The fate of several Union ministers including Radha Mohan Singh, Harshvardhan and Maneka Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia will be decided on Sunday in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha polls to be held in 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi
