UP Election 2022: MLA Jitendra Verma Quits BJP After Being Denied Ticket
UP elections: One more MLA has quit the BJP ahead of the UP assembly elections. Former MLA Jitendra Verma today joined the Samajwadi Party.
New Delhi: One more MLA has left the BJP ahead of the UP assembly elections. Jitendra Verma today joined the Samajwadi Party. After joining the SP, he strongly lashed out at BJP.
Former MLA Jitendra Verma said, "I have worked for the BJP but despite that, I was not given a ticket. The BJP said they would promote youth but had given tickets to 75-year-old. Samajwadi Party will form the government in UP and we will work for the betterment of the people."
Speaking to PTI, he said, "There are many reasons why I left the BJP. Even 15 days after I was denied a ticket, the party leadership did not talk to me. I have joined the Samajwadi Party and I will not contest this election."
In the past also many veteran leaders have left the BJP and joined the SP.
Several MLAs including Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati, Bhagwati Prasad Sagar have left the BJP and joined the SP.
Vinay Shakya, Avtar Singh Bhadana, Madhuri Verma, R K Sharma, and Dharam Singh Saini have also left the BJP.

Polling for the 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will begin in seven phases from February 10.
Polling in UP will be held in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7.
While counting of votes will take place on March 10. The Election Commission has not allowed any political rallies and roadshows till January 15 for the assembly elections in UP, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand in view of Corona.
