UP Election 2022: BJP Panel Led By CM Yogi To Meet Monday To Take Call On Candidates For First Two Phases

New Delhi: Eyeing a second term in power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold an important meeting in Lucknow on Monday to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
According to sources, all members of the Uttar Pradesh BJP election committee will be present in the meeting during which the party will decide on the candidates to be fielded in the first two phases of the elections.
Sources said the names of the candidates will be shortlisted in this meeting, adding the final decision would, however, be taken by the party’s central election committee.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma will be present in this meeting, which will be attended by all 24 members of the BJP election committee.
BJP leaders Radha Mohan Singh, Sunil Bansal, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Rajveer Singh, Vinod Kumar Sonkar, Brajesh Pathak, Baby Rani Maurya, Arun Singh, Ramapati Ram Tripathi, Y. Satya Kumar, Sunil Ojha and Sanjeev Chaurasiya will be among those present in the meeting to be held at 4 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission said polling for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases beginning February 10.
The polling dates will be February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7, while the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
The BJP registered a splendid victory in the 2017 assembly elections and bagged 312 seats in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
