'Be Prepared For More Meltdowns': PM Modi's Cryptic Post With Emojis On Congress Poll Rout

PM Modi, while reacting to a news video, asked the people of the country to be prepared for 'many more meltdowns' of the Opposition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at Congress over its debacle in the polls in Hindi heartland states, saying the party's "divisive agenda" was an "old habit" of 70 years that cannot go away so easily. In a cryptic post on X, PM Modi, while reacting to a news video, asked the people of the country to be prepared for "many more meltdowns" of the Opposition.

"May they be happy with their arrogance, lies, pessimism and ignorance. But...Beware of their divisive agenda. An old habit of 70 years can't go away so easily. Also, such is the wisdom of the people that they have to be prepared for many more meltdowns ahead," PM Modi tweeted.

The BJP, riding on PM Modi's popularity, trounced Congress in Madhya Pradesh as well as in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where the grand old party was in power. In Rajasthan, BJP wrested back power by winning 115 out of 199 seats while Congress was reduced to 69.

In Chhattisgarh too, the ruling Congress failed to defend the state as BJP bagged 54 of the 90 seats. Madhya Pradesh, where many exit polls had predicted an edge for Congress, saw the BJP decimating the party and anti-incumbency to secure a record fifth term by winning 163 out of 230 seats. The Congress managed to win 66 seats.

In his address to party workers, PM Modi called the Assembly poll results "historic" and "unprecedented" and said "this hat-trick of victories has given the guarantee for the 2024 hat-trick" -- a reference to the Lok Sabha elections that is just months away.
