Why Is PM Modi's Holy Dip Getting Political Attention? AAP Cites 'Polling Day Plan'

PM Modi's visit to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh on Delhi's election day raises concerns about electoral manipulation, according to AAP spokesperson Anurag Dhanda.

As Delhi prepares to vote on February 5, the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Prayagraj for the Sangam Snan or holy bath, at Maha Kumbh on the same day has raised eyebrows. The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) spokesperson Anurag Dhanda suggested that PM Modi’s visit to the Kumbh on February 5 could be part of an electoral strategy.

Dhanda stated, "As voting takes place in Delhi, Prime Minister Modi will be performing the Kumbh Snan. This clearly indicates a well-thought-out plan, as this day is electorally significant." He accused the BJP of attempting to exploit religious sentiments for political gain. However, the BJP has not yet issued an official response on the matter.

'Kejriwal Will Visit After Voting'

When asked if former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would also visit the Kumbh, Dhanda clarified that Kejriwal plans to visit the Maha Kumbh with his family after February 5. He added that while Kejriwal will attend the Kumbh, his visit will not be similar to that of PM Modi's.

The Kumbh Mela is considered the largest religious gathering in the world, attracting millions of devotees for a holy dip. So far, millions of devotees have participated in the ongoing Kumbh in Prayagraj. During election seasons, the presence of major political leaders at religious events often sparks debate. In previous elections, leaders from the BJP and other parties have attended religious gatherings, with Opposition parties accusing them of engaging in 'religious politics'.

Minister of State BL Verma said, "Devotees are coming in large numbers from not only India but the entire world, this Maha Kumbh is important as it is coming after 144 years. I think that PM Modi will definitely go and take a holy dip when that happens. Not only Sanatanis, but the entire world will see. He will be praying for the country at the Sangam."

PM Modi is scheduled to take the holy dip around 11 AM on Wednesday.
