New Delhi: Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday launched an attack at the Bharatiya Janata Party over their definition of nationalism. Priyanka who was in Amethi said, that the real nationalism is to solve the problem of the people of the country, instead of suppressing their voices. She said: “The issues are clear here: employment, education and health.” Attacking BJP she said, “Nationalism is to solve problems of people. Here they don't listen to people, when they raise their issues they suppress them, it's neither democracy nor nationalism” She also criticised the BJP for its way of campaigning ahead of elections. Priyanka said: “The way they contest polls by distributing money, sarees and shoes in front of media is wrong....People of Amethi have never begged in front of anyone. I've been coming here since I was 12 years old, people of Amethi and Raebareli have a lot of pride.” Priyanka was referring to the recent war of words with BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. Gandhi and Irani exhcnaged heated barbed recently after Priyanka had criticized her for distributing shoes to the people in Amethi. Priyanka had  said: “Smriti Irani ji visited Amethi and distributed shoes to the people implying that the residents here do not even have shoes to wear. She thinks she has succeeded in insulting Rahul ji with this act, but has actually ended up offending the people of Amethi.” “Tell them that people of Raebareli and Amethi don’t beg for things,” Priyanka added. "Rather she should beg for votes from Amethi," she said. In her comeback, Irani had said: “I have been an actor, so Priyanka ji should refrain from staging a drama here." She added: "If she has even a bit of shame, then she should visit those poor residents who did not even have shoes to wear. She should once visit them and see the reality." Amethi and Rae Bareli represented by Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, respectively,  will go to polls in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
