Modi to seek blessings of mother Heeraben in Gujarat today; in Varanasi for 'thanksgiving' tomorrow
Modi will pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel by garlanding his statue near the airport. He will then meet party workers at BJP office and then address a public meeting.
New Delhi: Minister Narendra Modi will be in Gujarat Sunday evening (today) to seek the blessings of his mother a day after he was appointed prime minister-elect by President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday.
The Bharatiya Janta Party’s Gujarat unit will welcome the PM-elect and Party president Amit Shah in the state. This will be the first ever tour of the two tall leaders to their home turf Gujarat after the BJP-led NDA returned to power with a massive majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Modi is scheduled to meet his mother Heeraben at her residence to seek her blessings.
Modi and Shah are slated to land at the Ahmedabad airport at 5 pm in the evening, where they will be received by the party leaders, supporters and workers of different religious and social groups.
Modi will pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel by garlanding his statue near the airport. He will then set off for Khanpur office. He will be welcomed by BJP’s state unit workers. Ater this he will address his supporters at a public meeting at JP Chowk.
On Monday, Modi will be in Varanasi, the Lok Sabha seat he retained in the elections by a margin of 4.79 lakh votes.
"Will be going to Gujarat tomorrow evening, to seek blessings of my Mother. Day after tomorrow morning, I will be in Kashi to thank the people of this great land for reposing their faith in me," the prime minister tweeted.
After President Kovind appointed him prime minister-elect on Saturday, Modi said "Sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas is a mantra that shows the path to development for every region of India. I once again thank the people of the nation and assure them that the new govt will leave no stones unturned to fulfill your dreams & expectations."
