State Cong Unhappy With Mumbai Seat-Sharing, Party Leader Expresses Unease Over This Seat Going To UBT Sena

The MVA poll-pact was announced after weeks of negotiations during a joint press conference.

Lok Sabha Elections: A day after the Maha Vikas Aghadi finalised its seat-sharing formula in Maharashtra, the Mumbai unit of the Congress does not seem to be happy over the seat-sharing formula. Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad has expressed displeasure over the Congress giving the South Central Mumbai seat to Shiv Sena (UBT).

According to ABP News sources, Gaikwad spoke to All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal and expressed a sense of displeasure in the party’s Mumbai unit. It is pertinent to mention that Varsha Gaikwad did not attend the Mumbai Congress meeting that was held today. As per the sources, Gaikwad is going to Vidarbha, and she will be meeting Rahul Gandhi during the election campaign in Vidarbha.

According to the seat-sharing deal, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena will contest 21 seats and the Congress will contest 17 seats in the state. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction will contest 10 seats in Maharashtra.
