Lok Sabha Phase 1 Voter Turnout Till 9 AM: States like West Bengal witnessed a robust voter turnout of 15.09%, while Arunachal Pradesh recorded a comparatively lower figure of 4.95%.

Lok Sabha Phase 1 Voter Turnout Till 9 AM: In the initial phase of India's nationwide election, voter turnout till 9 AM diverged significantly across states. According to ECI, states like West Bengal witnessed a robust voter turnout of 15.09%, while Arunachal Pradesh recorded a comparatively lower figure of 4.95%. Notably, Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh reported an 11% turnout by 9:00 am.

Lok Sabha Phase 1 Polling Begins

The polling is being held in all seats of Tamil Nadu (39), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Puducherry (1), Sikkim (1) and Lakshadweep (1) today, April 19. 

Notably, voting is going on in 12 seats of Rajasthan, 8 of Uttar Pradesh, 6 of Madhya Pradesh, 5 seats each of Assam and Maharashtra, 4 in Bihar, 3 in West Bengal, 2 seats of Manipur, and one seat each in Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir and Chhattisgarh.

The campaigning for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, which spans over seven phases, ended Wednesday evening.

It is to be noted that besides Gadkari, Sonowal, and Yadav, six other Union ministers - Kiren Rijiju, Sanjeev Baliyan, Jitendra Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, L Murugan and Nisith Pramanik are among the top contestants besides two former chief ministers - Biplab Kumar Deb (Tripura) and Nabam Tuki (Arunachal Pradesh), and former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
