Rahul Gandhi, Kharge To Visit Odisha Today
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Odisha on May 15 and May 16, respectively to address election rallies, news agency PTI reported. AICC in-charge of Odisha, Ajoy Kumar on Monday said Gandhi is scheduled to address an election rally in Bolangir on May 15.
He will arrive here at Bhubaneswar airport at around 11 am and then directly proceed to Bolangir to address a public meeting at around 11.30 am, Kumar said, as reported by PTI.
Kharge would address a public meeting in Kandhamal Lok Sabha constituency on May 16. The Congress president is also scheduled to address a press conference on the same day in Bhubaneswar, according to the report. Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh is also scheduled to address a press conference here on Tuesday (May 14).
This will be the second visit of Gandhi to Odisha during the current elections. Earlier, he had launched an election campaign for Congress in Odisha from Salepur in Cuttack district on April 28. On May 3, Rahul addressed an election rally in Rayagada district under Koraput Lok Sabha constituency through a video message.
Amit Shah To Also Address Poll Rallies In Odisha Today
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address election rallies on Wednesday. Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are being held simultaneously in Odisha.
Shah will hold a roadshow and two public meetings on Wednesday, while Rahul Gandhi will join a bike rally and address an election rally on Wednesday.
Shah after his arrival in Bhubaneswar will address two public meetings at Sorada under the Aska Lok Sabha seat and at Boudh under Kandhamal Parliamentary constituency before coming to Cuttack to attend a roadshow in the evening, PTI reported citing sources from BJP.
Rourkela and Kantabanji, the second seat from where BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is contesting the Assembly polls, have reportedly been omitted from Shah's itinerary, according to the report.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Wednesday asserted that if the BJP wins 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir will be "merged with India", and a “Krishna Janmabhoomi temple” and “Gyanvapi temple” will be built in Mathura and Kashi, respectively.
Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand's Ramgarh, he said the BJP needs to secure over 400 seats to also implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country.
“PoK will be merged with India if the BJP gets 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. The party needs that many seats to build the 'Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple’ and 'Gyanvapi temple', just like when it crossed the 300-seat mark in 2019, it built the Ram temple in Ayodhya,” Sarma said.
Later, at a press conference in state capital Ranchi, the BJP leader also accused the Congress of suppressing Hindu sentiments.
There is a “Hindu awakening” in the country after years and their voice cannot be suppressed amid this “Modi tsunami” across India, Sarma said. (PTI Input)

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Live: Mumbai Metro Services Temporarily Suspended During PM Modi's Roadshow
The services of Mumbai Metro were partially suspended for security reasons on Wednesday evening as Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in the Ghatkopar area of the city.
The services between Jagruti Nagar and Ghatkopar stations were suspended from 6 pm to 7.40 pm, said a spokesperson of Mumbai Metro One.
The Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova Metro provides connectivity between the eastern and western suburbs and is used by more than three lakh commuters daily. (PTI Input)
