No Early Surprises, No Giant Slayers Yet: Lok Sabha Battle Heats Up With Early Trends Favouring BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA is leading already way past the '200 paar' mark.

The much-awaited day when the results for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be announced is finally here with the counting underway. The early trends however, have not projected anything unsual as the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA is leading with a huge margin, already way past the '200 paar' mark. The opposition alliance is however trailing with 180 seats projected to be in their kitty.

From BJP, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is leading with approximately 80,000 votes. In Delhi, Manoj Tiwari is leading from the North-East Delhi seat. Meanwhile, actor Kangana Ranaut and Anurag Thakur are leading from their respective Mandi and Hamirpur seat in Himachal Pradesh.

Union Minister Smriti Irani too is leading from her seat in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, as Congress loyalis KL Sharma trails.

For the opposition too, Akhilesh Yadav is leading from the Kannauj seat. Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is also leading in Punjab.

Wayanad MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is leading from the Raebareli seat, a stronghold of the grand old party.

According to the exit polls announced on June 1, the National Democratic Alliance will retain its power at the Centre with a thumping victory. The ABP-CVoter survey, the BJP-led alliance is projected to win 353 to 383 seats out of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats.

The BJP alone is projected to win 315 seats, which is greater than its 2019 tally of 303 seats, the pollsters have predicted.

The opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc, as per the ABP- CVoter exit poll, might fall behind despite its intense campaigning and efforts to end the NDA's juggernaut. The bloc is predicted to win 152-182 seats.
