BJP Prospects In UP Lok Sabha Polls: As the Lok Sabha election 2024 dates draw closer, the 'world's largest political' outfit, the Bharatiya Janata Party, has set a target of 370 seats in the Lok Sabha election 2024. The BJP, therefore, has set its sights on all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the state with the most Lok Sabha constituencies. The BJP is now meticulously framing its Lok Sabha candidates list for the 2024 polls.
The BJP in Uttar Pradesh, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, is banking on a lot of its sitting MPs to achieve the unprecedented feat.
In 2019, the saffron party won 62 of the 80 seats, with General VK Singh winning the Ghaziabad seat by the highest margin of over 5 lakh votes against his closest competitor, the Samajwadi Party's Suresh Bansal. In the 2014 polls, Gen VK Singh had set an even bigger win margin of 5,67,260 votes against the Congress's Raj Babbar, which remains a record in the constituency that was carved out in 2008. Earlier, the region was included in the Hapur Lok Sabha constituency.
The BJP's slimmest margin of win was in Machhlishahr, where former BSP leader Bholanath Saroj won by just 181 votes against the Bahujan Samaj Party's Tribhuvan Ram.
