'Living In La La Land': Baba Siddique On Exodus In Maharashtra Congress, Ashok Chavan's Exit

NCP leader Baba Siddique on Tuesday slammed Congress, and stated that the party is "living in illusion."

After former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan left the Congress party on Monday, NCP leader Baba Siddique on Tuesday took a jibe at the grand old party stating the party is living "in La la's land," news agency ANI reported. Speaking with media, Siddique stated: "Ashok Chavan called me and I told him that we are going to meet soon in the way ahead. More people are going to leave because when a person feels suffocated, he tries to find a way."

Slamming Congress, he stated: "It is a wake-up call for Congress but I don't think they are going to wake up. They live in La la's land, they are living in illusion...There must be a reason why people are leaving Congress."

Chavan's resignation comes only days after long-time Congress figure in Mumbai and former Union Minister Milind Deora left the Grand Old Party to join the Shiv Sena, which is led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Meanwhile, last week, former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique announced his resignation from the Congress' core membership. He had been involved with the grand old party for 48 years.

After joining Ajit Pawar-NCP, Baba Siddique stated that he had a lot to say against Congress because he was exploited like curry leaves merely for flavor. He expressed both happiness and sadness. “Sad because I am not thick-skinned. 48 years is a long time. But happy because the everyday bickering now ended,” Baba Siddique had said.
