Late CDS General Bipin Rawat's Brother Rtd. Colonel Vijay Rawat Joins BJP

The retired Army officer also met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami earlier in the day.

New Delhi: Brother of late CDS General Bipin Rawat, retired Colonel Vijay Rawat on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at party headquarters in the national capital. 

"I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to join BJP. My father was with BJP after retiring & now I have gotten a chance. PM Modi's vision and thinking is very wise & futuristic," Vijay Rawat said after joining the saffron party.

The retired Army officer also met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami earlier in the day. The development comes days ahead of the much-awaited Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022.

After this meeting, Dhami took to Twitter and shared an image from the meeting and wrote: "Today in Delhi met Col. Vijay Rawat ji, brother of Late CDS of the country and the pride of Uttarakhand  Shri Bipin Rawat ji. We salute the nation service done by Bipin Rawat ji and his family. I will always work to make Uttarakhand according to their dreams."

Earlier while speaking to news agency ANI, Vijay Rawat said that he likes Uttarakhand CM's vision for the state as it match what Gen Rawat's had in his mind.

When asked about whether he will join the BJP, Vijay Rawat said in case they ask me, I'll serve the people of Uttarakhand.
