Karnataka Polls: Rahul Gandhi Pauses His Speech Upon Hearing Azaan In Tumakuru — Watch

Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a public meeting in Tumakuru, paused his speech after hearing the sound of Azaan

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a public meeting in Karnataka's Tumakuru on Monday, paused his speech upon hearing the sound of Azaan. This comes as the former Lok Sabha member is in the poll-bound state to campaign for the Congress which looks to de-throne the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the latter's sole bastion in the southern part of India.

In the video, he can be seen pausing his speech midway upon the sound of Azaan. He also signals his supports to be silent.

Addressing a gathering, Rahul Gandhi mounted an attack on the ruling party saying: "For the last 3 years, BJP has only done corruption here. The people of Karnataka called the BJP govt a 40% govt, which means they steal 40% commission from the public. The Prime Minister was also aware of this, but I would like to ask him why he didn't take any action on it."

"What did you do to stop corruption and "40 % commission" in Karnataka in the last 3 years?" he asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "You (PM) speak about Congress abusing you 91 times, but didn't speak anything about what you did for Karnataka," he remarked.

He further questioned PM Modi saying: "You (PM) don't even take names of CM Bommai and B S Yediyurappa in your speeches, your speeches are about yourself."

Congress Launches 'PayCM CryPM' Trend Campaign To Target BJP

The remarks came as the Congress party launched a 'PayCM CryPM' trend campaign on Twitter levelling allegations of commission-grabbing against Chief Minister Basvaraj Bommai and over PM Modi's recent remark where he said that the Congress has abused him "91 times" so far.

The Twitter trending campaign was launched after Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi mocked the Prime Minister on Sunday saying: "I am seeing such a Prime Minister for the first time, who comes in front of you and cries that he was being abused. Rather than hearing your grievances, he narrates his woes."

"Someone in PM Modi's office has compiled a list that is not about people's problems." That list represents the number of times Modi has been abused. At the very least, the list is limited to one page. Look at the insults they (BJP officials) have flung at my family, and if we start creating lists, we'll have to publish book after book after book," she said at a rally at Jamakhandi in Bagalkot district.
