I.N.D.I.A Bloc To Hold 'Informal Meet' Today, Counting Day Preparation On Cards
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the I.N.D.I.A bloc will hold an informal meeting today to discuss poll preparations for the counting day, slated to be held on June 4.
As the curtains will be drawn on the sevenh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Saturday, the I.N.D.I.A bloc will hold an "informal meeting" today to discuss the preparations for the counting day on June 4, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said.
Kharge also said the top leaders of the alliance will discuss how the leaders and workers need to stay alert.
This comes after the grand old party announced that Congress will not be participating in the debates on exit polls. "The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP," Congress's media and publicity department chairman Pawan Khera said on a post on X.
Kharge also said that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will not be attending the meeting as she would be busy with the elections today.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters, the Congress president said, "the meeting is being held for our own sake to train people and to give them information. This is an informal meeting. In this, we will only discuss what kind of preparation we should have on the day of counting and how our people should be alert, whether it is about EVMs or the 17C form is used."
"Just for our own sake, we are holding this meeting to train our people and to give them information," Kharge added.
Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal also said the meeting is only for discussing about the counting preparations. He also said that Congress has already asked the state units to be alert about Form 17C.
"Therefore, we have to have a review on that day about the Form 17C collections and the counting day preparations. Nothing else is going to be discussed, it's an informal meeting. We have informed major political party leaders for all," Venugopal stated.
It is to be noted that the meeting will be held a day before AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will surrender to the Tihar jail as directed by the Supreme Court.
