Hemant Soren's JMM Releases Manifesto For Jharkhand Polls, Promises 33% Reservation In Jobs For Women

Chief Minister Hemant Soren's party has promised 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs in the state if the party comes back in power. 

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday released the party manifesto for the Assembly Elections in Jharkhand focussing on 9 points, including agriculture, education and the rights of residents.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren's party has promised 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs in the state if the party comes back in power. The JMM manifesto also promised loan waiver of small and medium-level traders.

In a post on microblogging site X, Hemant Soren said that the poll manifesto was released by JMM chief Shibu Soren. The Jharkhand CM also shared pictures of the JMM chief releasing the poll manifesto. 

“Our manifesto promises 33 per cent reservation to women in all state government jobs. It focuses on nine points,” party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said. The manifesto also assured people to provide loans of up to Rs 5 crore to MSME entrepreneurs under the Credit Guarantee Scheme. It promised to waive loans of small and medium-level traders besides setting up sports centres of excellence in all divisions and a sports university in the state.
 
Promising to ensure agricultural loans at a zero per cent interest rate, the JMM also assured people to provide support from the state fund to increase the minimum wage for MGNREGA workers to Rs 350 per day.
 
The manifesto also promised to set up 500 CM Schools of Excellence at the block level and 4,500 model schools at the panchayat level, besides setting up 100 nursing colleges.
 
The party also assured people that it would fight to get Jharkhand's dues from the Centre to the tune of Rs 1.36 lakh crore, besides getting the Centre’s approval on the 1932-Khatiyan (land records) based domicile policy.
 
A ministry for the welfare of the backward classes would be formed.In addition, the Land Acquisition Act (Jharkhand) Amendment 2017 and Land Bank Policy would be repealed, the manifesto promised.
 
The document's release coincided with the last day of campaigning for the first phase of polling to the Jharkhand assembly. The elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with counting of votes to take place on November 23. As many as 1,211 candidates are in the fray for the 81 assembly seats after completion of nomination withdrawal exercises for both phases of the election.
