Gujarat Polls: BJP Fields Former Congress Leader And Patidar Face Hardik Patel
Former Congress leader and Patidar face Hardik Patel will be contesting the Gujarat polls on a BJP ticket From the Viramgam seat.
Gujarat BJP Candidate List 2022: The BJP has fielded former Congress leader and Patidar face Hardik Patel for the upcoming Gujarat polls. He will be contesting from the Viramgam seat. Ex-Congressman Hardik Patel joined BJP in June 2022 after quitting Congress in May 2022. During his stint with Congress, he served as the working president of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, the state unit of Congress in Gujarat.
BJP on Thursday announced its candidates for the upcoming Gujarat Election.
BJP announced 160 candidates to contest the Gujarat assembly election 2022. 38 new faces have been named in the BJP candidates list, and 69 sitting MLAs have been given tickets again to content.
CM Bhupendra Patel will contest the elections from the Ghatlodiya constituency.
The BJP also fielded Kantilal Amrutya, a former MLA from Morbi, who reportedly jumped into the river to save people after the collapse of a bridge, which killed more than 130 people. Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba Jadeja has been given a BJP ticket to contest from the Jamnagar North Vidhan Sabha seat.
Among Congress imports are seven who fought the 2017 elections, such as Pradyuman Jadeja and Ashwin Kotwal. Former Congressman Hardik Patel could not contest in 2017 as he did not meet the minimum age criterion of 25.
The BJP list announcement came the morning after the party poll panel met under the chairmanship of party chief JP Nadda on November 9. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister were among the attendees.
The candidates list includes 14 women, and 13 and 24 members from the Schedules Castes and Schedules Tribes respectively.
Voting for the 182-member Gujarat legislative assembly will be held in two phases- December 1 and December 5, with results to be announced on December 8.
